Something new today and I want opinions!  I am trying a new app for my phone and I want to know if the sound quality is better this way.  Today I talk about whether you should be prescribing medications for your family, the implications of doing so, and the one instance where it might be ok.  I also talk about my experience with dealing with new patients who have been on long-term scheduled medicines and my stance on how I am dealing with it.  Please give feedback in the comments, the Facebook page, or email me at Jeff@TheNPDude.com.  Remember to have a listen on iTunes and tell your friends to listen and spread the word!

  1. How do you handle a situation where another provider (in the office you work as a provider) has a med called into pharmacy under your name for his (young) son. The son is not a patient of yours or the practice. (From the viewpoint of other provider, he/she would do the same for you if your son/daughter needed a med [antibiotic] for acute illness… [obviously not calling in scheduled meds]). I want to emphasize that this is not occurring where I work but I have heard of these situations in the past. Has anyone ever dealt with a situation like this and how did you handle it?
